Nuh Lawyer Arrested for Spying for Pakistan’s ISI
Nuh, Haryana: A practising lawyer from Nuh district was arrested on Wednesday on charges of spying for Pakistan’s ISI, police said. The accused, identified as Rizwan, a resident of Kharkhadi village in Tauru, was taken into custody after investigators reportedly found digital evidence and suspicious financial activity linking him to Pakistani handlers.
Police claim the lawyer shared sensitive information and handled hawala-based funds believed to be connected to cross-border espionage. An FIR has been filed under Section 113 of the BNS and Section 17 of the UAPA.
A second lawyer, Musharraf (also known as Parvez), has also been detained for questioning as part of the expanding probe. Authorities say more detentions are possible as digital devices, bank transactions and communication logs undergo forensic analysis.
Family members have denied the allegations, stating that Rizwan only communicated with relatives in Pakistan for personal reasons. Local leaders expressed shock, calling him a “bright and respected lawyer.”
This is the third espionage-related arrest in the Mewat region this year, intensifying concerns over suspected ISI-linked networks operating in Haryana. Investigations are ongoing.
